Course Syllabus

This is a course in Managing and Building Teams. It is designed to give you exposure to essential theories and concepts for analyzing, understanding, and managing groups/teams. This course examines components that comprise teams, highlights key factors that influence team effectiveness, develops skills in diagnosing opportunities and threats that face teams, and enhances teamwork effectiveness. Team management is studied through reading and discussing cases, learning and explaining your understanding of techniques to build and sustain teams, and watching videos created by working professionals. This is a great class for anyone who wants to be an effective team member or leader in the future!

The course has three modules. The first module is designed to introduce you to different the team types. In the second module you will gain a an understanding of general characteristics of work teams. The third module will explain how to enhance work team effectiveness.

This course will help you understand the general principles and processes of team building so that you can either assemble or effectively work in a variety of situations.

 Modules & Assignments

You will begin with module one, and progress through all three modules. There is a slide show/power point in each module to read, this will give you the background information needed to proceed with the assignments and quizzes. While this course is ungraded, you cannot proceed until completing each module in order. 

Once you have completed all three modules, there is a survey to take-please take the survey to help us serve our students better. Upon completion of the survey, we will receive notification. You will receive a certificate of successful completion for the Managing & Building Teams course.
