Course Syllabus
What you will learn?
The purpose of this course is to give you a beginner’s introduction the variety of ways you can use visual journalism to complement your reporting.
We will discuss the latest trends in digital journalism and visual storytelling and provide inexpensive and in some cases free tools on the web for producing your own visual journalism. In each case we will discuss the best practices, ethical considerations and journalistic approaches for the purpose of credibility and clarity.
Course format
Start by watching each of the videos in the section in the order they appear on the right. There will be a quiz after each section, followed in most cases by an assignment where you will put what you learned into practice. The course will conclude with a final assignment where you will report on an actual news story and craft your own visual approach to the story.
Each section has a resources document with additional tools to help you develop the skills you learn in the lessons.
